Why the Topps Movie Edition foils are 1999 grails

The 1999 Topps Movie Edition set was released in tandem with the North American theatrical debut of Mewtwo Strikes Back — the movie that introduced millions of kids to Mewtwo, Mew, and the Pokémon anime universe on the big screen. The foil parallel cards like #35 are the toughest to find in mint condition 25+ years later, especially as this set was often opened by children in the theater lobby.
